Someone check Al's forehead. Look for signs of heat or bulging. I think he may be sick or his brain is about to explode. I've never seen him so productive. He actually put paint on something without complaint. I'm worried! If he starts saying slant 6's are cool or even acceptable we will have to call Constantine for an exorcism! SHHHHHHHH! Maybe he won't notice what's happening to him!! Oh yeah, it's been so long I hadn't noticed it was an improvement! But if he says anything nice about any inline 6 cylinder, I'm calling Constantine myself.

OK, Al. I've been following this since a few hours after the first post. Very impressive work. I'm envious of the abilities you guys have, no doubt. 2 thumbs up. That having been said, I have to admit that AWB and Pro Street just absolutely do not go together in my book. I've tried, honestly I have. I did the Internet research and found several built that way, including a really nice '65 Coronet. Even after all that, I just can NOT make this go together in my head. Yes, it's just me. I'm a freaking dinosaur and proud of it. Model on!

I don't know if I am going to keep it or not. see I finally figured out how to stifle you guys is to be productive and get shit done... even if I have to finish my 6 cylinder challenger...and just so you guys think I am joking.....

I said before I wish I would have kept it stock in the back for standard slicks. I just had a vision for something really out there and this is what I did. if you don't like this one, you really toss your cookies over a pro street gasser 64 dodge... the real thing, not a kit.

I'm not sure why, but an AFX through Gasser stance on your Pro St AWB makes more sense to me than the slammed Pro St look. That being said it's your build so please enjoy making it any way you want. I'm looking forward to seeing this one done.

I'm not sure why, but an AFX/Gasser stance on your Pro St AWB makes more sense to me than the slammed Pro St look. That being said it's your build so please enjoy making it any way you want. I'm looking forward to seeing this one done. that's because we are trained to see this as a AWB as they were back then. this should be this, and this should be this. i am pretty much right there with you brother. its all a preference. just like people don't like a modern hemi in a 68 charger. EFI on a 440 instead of a carb, ford motors in 65 Valants, spandex on a 65 year old woman, hair bands, or panther pink paint on a B body. now, since we opened this can of worms, lets spread them all over the table. disclaimer - I have said this before, not much gets me upset, saying you will cast my parts then disappear, talking about my family and the Pittsburg Steelers are about it. things being typed can be construed so many ways. so, lets carry on, shall we.... YOUR ALL MORONS!!! kidding. see, in my opinion, yes, my opinion, who knows what those crazies were thinking back then. any car higher than stock ride height looks like shit. I understand this is the way gassers were built, you also have to remember that AWB cars are not gassers. when AWB cars first came out, they were factory suspension cars with all those components moved forward for what they thought was better weight distribution and to shorten the wheelbase. (fyi - 18" in the rear and 12" up front). probably other reasons also. once these cars proved they were a force to be reckoned with, the gasser guys, who thought by putting the front end up there was the ultimate weight transfer, they probably thought by moving the rear wheels forward HAS TO BE the bomb. hehe, all it did was give them the squirrelliest ride EVER!! any of you guys ever ride in a gasser.... bring a pair of extra shorts pal!! so, moving on. here was my thought when I derived this car. I was going to build a nice pro street car, but the only drive shaft I had was too short, so instead of making one, I simply hacked up the body, no problem. now what REALLY happened is it was going to be a AWB as they were made back then..... B O R I N G !! neat cars, I don't care for them, so I thought, how can I spice this up... of course... tub the hell out of it, put a cross ram in it with EFI, 4 link and all the modern stuff. oh yea, and slam the hell out of it. the only way to fly. in fact, I am reworking the rear tubs a little to get the ass end down over those monster tires a little more!!! so, moral of the story, say what you will about my builds, question anything you want. I am certainly not right all the time, and your question on what I did, may just be a better idea than what I did.... but in this case. no. for future reference, I do have a 65 resin AWB coronet that I am going to build like this...

Hey, don't take me wrong, Al. I'm not about to claim that your build, or the real AWB/Pro Street cars I found searching the 'Net are bad, wrong, incorrect, inaccurate, ugly, or any other derogatory term. Let's just call it "lack of exposure" on my part. I am a dinosaur. You are correct. AWB cars are supposed to look a certain way, , , TO ME, , , IN MY HEAD.
Now, that's not to say someday I couldn't become accustomed to seeing that combination as normal and sane. I suppose when I saw the very first gasser with its nose "in the sky" I thought it looked a little strange, even goofy. After the first year or two, a gasser with a completely normal stance looked "off" a little.
Yes, I have ridden in a gasser. Not on the strip, but back in the day, in Podunk, IL side streets and country roads were as open as could be. If you wanted to "turn it loose" or "line 'em up" you just drove to whatever isolated area you wanted and did your thing. Made many trips in somebody's gasser, altered, or other slightly radical ride. Of course, that usually involved a fair amount of liquid refreshment so my judgment might have been slightly clouded.
Like I said before, model on.

cool, but you can say that about mine. especially if its "bad, wrong, incorrect, inaccurate, ugly, or any other derogatory term." don't mind at all. I like when people voice their opinion. good things can come of it. I think gassers still look ridiculous, but they look pretty damn cool in person. maybe because you don't see them too much. they are making a strong comeback.
them gassers, well, they are really tricky little SOB's. scared the pants off of me, and I was drinking pop. drove my runner impaired quite a few times... THATS stupid.

You are right about the "AFX/Gasser" I chose a short cut expecting that others who are drag racing fans would understand that I meant AFX though Gasser. I have corrected my error.
Further, I did not use any derogatory terms in what I said. I was simply stating how the stance on your build effected me followed by a very clear disclaimer about how it is your model and that you should build it as you chose.
I am in fact looking forward to seeing how this one turns out, who knows I may develop a liking for this style of build. I may not, and that's ok too. We all are entitled to our own thoughts and feelings about how something appears to us and should be able to express our selves here without concern of backlash.
As far as driving impaired goes, there is no better way to lose everything you have in your life, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IN YOUR LIFE, this includes all sense of who you really are. I speak from experience on this one. Don't FU**ING do it!!! Imagine how bad the worst thing ever could be, then realize that that's just the very tip of the iceberg. I lost everything including the confident life-loving person I was, to not just one but several bad choices. Several bad choices because the first few times, I made such I stupid choices, I got away with them. After that I believed I was Teflon, nothing could stick to me so I would push my luck a little further. Then I got caught and not just once, but the cost of those times was not enough.
Okay sorry about the rant, but not sorry about the statement. DON'T DRIVE IMPAIRED!!! Don't live impaired either. It will cause you to love things that you never dreamed you would even care about!

Hey, Eric. The "derogatory remark" thing was directed at me. I was attempting to find someway to defend my dinosaur mentality.
