Sorry, Keith, I know how I feel when I miss out. Of course, it's better than what I did in one auction. I bid more than what I intended because I wasn't going to let Mr. Otherguy buy it too cheap. LOL, I paid $22.50 + $14.20 for a Dodge Ram Dually, not really a bad deal but the plan was not to go over $30 total.
I hear you, my collection has more than doubled this month, or it will have as soon as the last few kits arrive. I only had 11 kits in January, so it wasn't that hard to increase. Plus I've picked up a few much-needed building supplies, I finally feel like a builder again. Now it's time to settle down and do some serious building. LOL
Besides if I get too many unbuilt/started kits I'll become like Al and bejust a collector who dabbles at partial kit assembly.
Up to 1979, I had finished about 55 kits, most of which got blown to hell when I was a teen. Then from 1982 to 2000, I built about another 40 kits which I proudly displayed. By that time I had acquired over 27,000 kits and various diecasts, most tinkered with, but not all. My former, and then second, wife talked me into having my collection appraised 1996 for insurance purposes. The appraisal came in at just over 300,000. I WAS FLOORED. She decided that we didn't need to worry too much about a retirement plan, I never did tell her I would never sell any of them. Well, unless it was to buy more. lol. Then I threw my whole life away, on other depression driven addictions.
A very sneaky and quiet divorce and she had it all. Not that she and the kids didn't deserve every bit of it. I simply miss my toys.
