Alclad II Chrome paint takes longer to apply than Molotow. I use either depending upon the situation. Large parts will get the Alclad while smaller parts and trim get the Molotow. Alclad is misted on using a "sweeping motion" with your airbrush. You must start with a gloss black enamel base and it should be a perfect as possible. When the gloss has dried, apply the Alclad in a sweeping misting motion. The lighter, the better and build up your coats. Have you ever seen the back side of a mirror? The dark grey provides the base for the chrome plating to be applied over it. Alclad works in the same manner. A bottle of Alclad II Chrome paint costs me about $9.00 for a 1 fluid ounce bottle and lasts me several years.

I have seen Alclad II Chrome in a spray can, too. I've not used any Alclad II, but I've read a lot of good things about it.

I prefer Alclad over Molotow for several reasons.
Alclad comes ready to spray through your airbrush. Molotow requires that you either "decant" a pen, or buy a refill for $30.00 if you want to spray it.
Alclad is cheaper than Molotow.
In my opinion, Alclad is more durable than Molotow.
Molotow has the advantage of not needing a base coat for spraying, but if done properly, Alclad can look as good as Molotow.
Personally, I only use Molotow for small items when I can use it directly from the pen or with a brush. If I'm spraying, it's Alclad.
I use foil if at all possible over both of them.

I use AlClad a lot and I have stopped using enamel black paint as a basecoat. I just use Tamiya black paint and have had very good results with it. The gas tank was done with polished aluminum in the diamond plate is aluminum.

Haven't tried Molotow yet. Have been using Alclad for many years and have been very pleased with results. Good surface preparation is what will give the best results with it.
