nice Steve. looking goos. its amazing how much real a part looks when you strip chrome off of it. that chrome just ads more stuff to the part and can really take away from the part.

Thanks guys!
Finally! Some color on the Coronet!!
I'll foil the R/T emblems on the front quarters and the Dodge script on the rear panel, and then give it one more coat of color.
Next step will be laying out and spraying the bumble bee stripes before beginning clear coats.

Nice so far. What color top are you planning?

Nice so far. What color top are you planning? Top will be black.
But, ran into a problem with the paint on one of the rear fenders. If I can't fix it, I'll be looking at a complete repaint, which will set be back considerably.

I think that I might have been able to save the paint job, but it really had me concerned for a while.
What happened was that I had a small speck of dirt in the passengers side rear quarter, that when I tried to sand down, it "picked out" leaving a small hole in the paint right down to the primer.
My remaining paint was very limited, (maybe a third of a air brush cup left) so whatever repair that I attempted needed to be small in order to save paint and avoid ordering more.
What I decided to try was to first dab some paint with a small brush into the void to bring it back up to, and beyond the surrounding surface. I then sanded that small spot down to as level with the surrounding paint as possible, loaded the airbrush and hit the spot and immediate surrounding area with several fairly heavy shots to try to bring the color back up and blend the area.
Finally, I gave the entire side of the car a light coat to blend.
I was pretty worried about color variations between the patched area and adjacent areas of the body, but this MCW paint is a dream, and it looks as if color shouldn't be an issue.
I still have enough paint remaining to hit the side of the body with one last light coat, and with any luck at all, enough to paint the hood hinges, which are the only remaining parts left that need body color.
It's going to be a real squeaker, if it's possible at all!!
This photo shows the spot after filling it with a brush before sanding.
And this is after the repair with a possible one more light coat remaining over the entire side.
This is what I have left for paint!!

Squeaker indeed! But the repair looks fine to me, good job. I've learned that the smaller MCW bottles are just barely enough if I use a ground coat, but if I'm painting the whole underside & interior as well, I'll need to get a 2nd bottle. The other place - Scale Finishes - has larger bottles, more cost-effective for times when MCW isn't quite enough.

My only gripe is the fact that they use larger metallic particles in their metallic paint.
I use MCW whenever I can find the color that I want because the particles in their metallics are much more in scale.

Best paint available on the market for model cars in my opinion!

I have to agree with you Steve on the choice between MCW and Scale Finishes. I would prefer that MCW would use the same bottles that Scale Finishes uses. Great repair on your paint chip.
