IH Transtar 4070A Finished

This is the reissued International Transtar 4070A kit. I’m going pretty much box stock with this one. It’s going to be orange and white with paint scheme G. The kit decals has the white stripes to match it. So far it’s a good kit but mine was missing the decal sheet. I called Round 2 to let them know that I was missing them and they said they would send me the missing decals and said sorry that my kit was missing the decals. It took about 2 weeks for them to arrive but I received 2 sets. Here’s some pictures of the paint on the cab so far.

Man you wasted no time starting on this one! Looks like your off to a nice start.

Man does that kit bring back some memories. It was the second big rig I ever built. I remember dragging the extendable flatbed trailer all around the living room floor. Even made a loading dock out of my three-ring binder so I could drive my International Scout up on the flatbed.

Yea Eric I can remember building this one when it first came out. My first one was red and I tried using the rubber cement and strip template that came in the kit it blead so bad that I just painted it all red. This new reissue has the old instructions with the old pictures and strip template included.

I’ve been working on the engine, frame and wheels today. This kit just falls in place the parts don’t have any flash on them and they clean up really easy. I’m still deciding on colors for the interior and fuel tanks. Here’s my progress pictures for today.

sweet. don't really know what i am looking at, but its got a motor and wheels and thats fine with me. nice job on the wheels. did you use a chrome pen for the bolts?

Cool build ! I'm sentimental about IH stuff; my maternal grandfather worked there for 40+ years and was the guy who laid out the mfg & assy plants, including converting them for WW2 defense work and then back to civilian. I still have some of his drafting stuff & hand tools.

Yes Al I used the 1 mm Molotow chrome pen they are great.

Al I have all 3 sizes 1mm, 2mm, and 4mm that I’m able to pick up at Hobby Lobby.
