D8 Bulldozer (FINISHED)

I’m building a bulldozer for the detachable lowboy I just finished. This is going to be my first attempt to do some weathering on it. I’m going for a fairly new look but used. I’ve started on the engine and some work on the blade.

Thanks Al this is a little different type of build for me plus I’m going with a used look. I’ve been making some progress but I’m limited on what I can do until my aftermarket parts arrive. They are supposed to ship this week from Canada and my last order from Canada took a month and a half for shipping. The tracks are from the kit and I have new ones coming but I wanted to check the color on them I painted them semi black and then used Uschi iron powder to give them a bare metal look. I also picked up some Tamiya weathering master - sand,light sand and mud to use for some weather affects and also some brown ballast for dirt. When I get all done I may have one of those trucks that you hate to be behind with the dirt falling off it going down the road lol. Here’s my current progress pictures. I’m interested in any weathering tips.

I did some more work on the blade and have it mocked up and attached to the dozer. Yes I missed painting the one brace but I’ve got a lot of touch up painting to do plus I have to paint my aftermarket parts when they arrive.

Another cool project in the works! What aftermarket parts did you order for this build besides the track’s?
I have a original kit with the trailer that I’d like to build some day.

Made some progress on the ripper and added some more details on the blade hydraulic cylinders. I’m now at a point where I’m waiting on my aftermarket parts to arrive to be able too do any more work on this. I never expected in stock parts to take more than a month to be processed for shipping.

I’ve reached a point where I can not do anything else until my parts arrive so I’ve moved it off my bench for now.

My in stock aftermarket parts arrived after waiting almost 2 1/2 months but the parts are what I was looking for. I’ve made a lot of progress since they arrived. This is my first weathering attempt I’m going for the new but well used look. Other than respraying the top I’m done with this one.
