When we sold the old house, I was informed that I couldn't put my hobby in the spare bedroom at the new house. Well, I had dragged two outbuildings down to the new homesite, so I decided to use one of those for a new hobby lair. Mrs. BUCKY appropriately named it Hobby Shack, and chose the colors for the sign. Following is a journey of me whipping this building into the Hobby Shack. It started out as this pale yellow color. It matched the old house very well, but didn't fit in here: This is after I added the railings: I started out by painting the trim and the porch railings white: I then started with the light gray, which matches the new house. Notice Mrs. BUCKY's sign: This shows the difference between the yellow and gray: One side complete, except for the doors: A good coat of dark gray on the porch boards: At this point, things are going smooth. More Hobby Shack to come.....................................................

There's a guy down here who moves these buildings for a living. He has a trailer that does 90% of the work, and it has a remote control! LoL I actually had him bring two buildings to the new place. Didn't take long, as we only moved twelve miles. I do have a good heater for the Hobby Shack, and it's insulated fairly well. Nothing will freeze in there. We're in the southern part of Tennessee.

One of the kids from my old SoCal neighborhood just moved to somewhere around Lynchburg and loves it. He was a helluva commercial & residential contractor but finally escaped Calif.

This next series of pics date back to last year. I've done quite a lot of work to the Hobby Shack, but just now am to the point where I have a little time to update the thread. I started trimming the doors with two shades of gray and white on the facings. Following is the results: Gotta do a repeat on the side doors: Got this side done: This basically completed the outside.

I have two of these showcases: One is 5 feet long, the other is 4 feet long. They each had the metal brackets which help up glass shelves. Not being very stable, a shelf actually fell to the bottom of the larger showcase. Lucky thing that I didn't have any built models in the case, yet. My remedy: PVC pipe and fittings!!! I fashioned a few different frames, using the pipe, fittings, and gray paint. I installed the framework inside the case, and added the glass shelves. Not much danger of these crashing down!!! This is the larger case. The smaller one looks very similar, but naturally doesn't hold as many models. More inside stuff in the next post.
