One of my favorite cars that I've owned was a Gulfstream Aqua '69 Sportsroof: a basic low-option 302 stick car that had 8" wheels and a few suspension mods, and a killer repaint that looked a foot deep. Also had a louvered hood by Kent Fuller.
So I'll do a kind of tribute, using the Revell Boss 302 kit. Undecided between Minilites or Magnum 500s, and what color the Minilites should be if I use them.

Underside. Not the "correct" brown, Tamiya NATO Black. NATO vs Matte vs the glossier Black (all Tamiya) gives a bit more contrast.

NATO is a bit towards a charcoal hue as opposed to pure black. I think using the 3 different blacks would be more interesting on something like a GM full-frame vehicle. Mass-produced cars have different shades/hues of black on different parts from a variety of vendors. This one, being a unibody, only shows NATO vs Black on the underside.

That looks good. I like the turn downs in front of the axle. I started to build one of these as a Boss 429, but got bogged down with bodywork... always felt these Revell/Monogram bodies looked a bit dumpy, so ended up sectioning it and reshaping the rear quarter windows.

Yeah, had to rub on the upper quarters and the fender character lines a bit - the parting lines around the body were pretty pronounced in good light. Did the underside the way mine was.

Got basecoat on the thing today, decided on Minilite wheels from Fireball, painted them with the Revell chrome paint. Previously painted engine compartment & interior of body Matte Black; hoping my masking doesn't suck, haha...

Yeah, my favorite Ford color of all, though ironically I've had 3 black Mustangs. But everyone loved the Gulfstream Aqua one, even folks who were ambivalent towards cars.

For anyone wanting to build one, consider gluing the rear body panel in before attaching the chassis...maybe even before painting. It's a bastard trying to get a proper tight fit at the sides & top of the panel.

Callin' it done - dropped the nose a bit to get a good stance. Color looks more blue in these photos than it really is - might take some outdoor photos for more accurate rendition.
