Planning to build a 68 Roadrunner. The question is I like the hardtop not so much the Coupe. What options came with the coupe? I was looking at the 68 Roadrunner Hardtop and it looks to me they all came with the aluminum panel on the trunk. And the coupes did not. Is this right or was this an option? The kit doesn't come with that panel. Any information would be appreciated. One more question the hemi aircleaner looks to be incorrect in the kit. Isn't it supposed to be the round dome aircleaner? Did 68 come with the hood attached air box? I know 69 did.

an option package on some 68 Roadrunners was the Decor group package. it was a 79.00 option. this included interior trim, stainless steel A pillar molding (for coupes), rear armrests with ashtrays, deck lid (trunk lid) panel trim, partial horn ring steering wheel.
now....
here is where it gets muddy... wheel lip molding and the rocker chrome molding, I do NOT think they were part of that package, but could be ordered separately on these. I think the 68 road runner has the lower rocker molding molded onto the model, not 100% sure on that one.
remember, very important, all this stuff could be special ordered also, if you only wanted part of a package and you had a good salesman, you could delete or add pretty much anything you wanted. that's how you got 4 door hemis. I have white books at home (repos of the actual books that the salesmen walked around with), if I ca dig them up, I will try to find out more info. maybe I can give you a call later, if I remember.

Early '68s were all base (think Belvedere) coupes. HT was added mid-model-year, which had Decor (think Satellite) trim level. At same time, that trim level became an option for the coupes as "Decor Group". The trunk applique for RRs was unique in its maroon accents (instead of Satellites being silver) and the bird decal that was only ever used there. MMY also saw the switch from Inland to Hurst shifters, plus smaller changes to ashtray & vent knobs.
For the model, I've seen a decal for that; but I think a 3D or photo-etched metal piece would be more accurate.

Hey, just trying to be helpful. I recall them new, and have owned a good dozen of them, and restored better than half of those. (Yup, total geek.) The rocker mldgs were optional, but wheel-opening mldgs were NA on 68 or 69 RRs per ordering info. I'm sure some owners or dealers added them, though. For a time (before FMVSS mandate), you could actually order 1 headrest... That Clay's site is pretty good. The D4L coupe interior he indicates as parchment/white is actually the tan & brown scheme. Exterior colors CC1 & DD1 aren't Plymouth B body colors according to a couple of my OEM paint charts, but Chrysler's "99" color ordering could have allowed it.

Oh, forgot to mention: '66-'68 Hemi cars got the round dome; no Air Grabber for '68 models, although an engineering drawing exists. AG was introduced for '69 models. '69s got the Air Grabber included with Hemi option. One curiosity is that N97 (noise reduction for CA) 383/440 cars had snorkel air cleaners and no chrome tailpipe tips on Decor RR & GTX, but that didn't apply to Hemi cars (for a while, multi-carb cars were exempt). But a few 383/440 cars wound up in CA with their 49-state "normal" features.
