awesome build. I am very impressed on how clean this build is. you even got the little emblems above the headlights on. sweet. question, did those headers come with the Mobius kit? they look different from the Johan ones.

I notice you have a 4 headlight grille. Which Lindbergh kit is that body from?

It is from the kit with the blue colored car on the box. It has the big block or slant 6 option. The box that has the red one with the Hemi grille actually has the 4 headlight grille inside. I have one and checked.

Rivet counters and purists would tell you the '65 scoop is not correct for as '64, but who cares?

Excellent build! I really like the way this one turned out. I like the color choices and the theme of this build. It's the quintessential Cruise Night/Strip-Blasting Ride, and of course a great save of what was a potential disaster. Great job!!

Rivet counters and purists would tell you the '65 scoop is not correct for as '64, but who cares? how so? I have seen so many pictures of these scoops. didn't know there was a difference between the 64 and the 65 version. I know there is a racing scoop that is almost flat with the hood in back. I think that was altered by the racers themselves. I also know there is a debate on the location of these scoops also.

Since there is no mention of this build being one of the special factory drag cars, the 4 headlight grill should be completely acceptable.
As for the hood scoop being either a '64 or '65, I must be missing some info. I just went back into my copy of "Maximum Performance" and re-read the sections on the '64 and '65 cars to see what mention of scoops was in there. All I could find was that in '64 there were 2 different scoops, one for the wedge motor and one for the Hemi motor. In '65 there was just the one, single hump, scoop for the Hemis. I looked all the photos over in the '64 and '65 sections and I must be missing what the difference in years is.
Help us out, biggary. I'm always open to new data on ANY early to mid 60s MOPAR. If I build all I have in my stash I'll eventually end up with well over 20 cars in my collection. If there is a difference in scoops from '64 to '65 I'd appreciate being able to tell.

well, you are correct, but all 64 and 65 cars that came with hemis were factory race cars, period. the hemi was not introduced to the public till 66. now, it could be a 64 6 cylinder car with a transplanted hemi. who knows how many dealerships were into drag racing and build cars with hemis in them in their dealership. now, like I said earlier, I don't know of the hemi scoops being different from one year to the next, just the placement I have seen has varied. I have seen them lined up with the back edge of the hood to 3 or 4 inches off the back. don't matter to me, I will never put a 1:1 64/5 hemi car together. but to some (aka; rivet counters) it matters a whole bunch. little story, a good friend of mine, his dad worked at a Dodge assembly line. they moved around some from month to month, in his own words, he told us that one day, they would put outside door handles on with chrome buttons, they ran out and were brought boxes of door handles with black buttons. he also remembers 1 particular instance a black hemi super bee rolling thru. it was a special order car. the guy deleted everything, including the ramcharger hood. this guy had to be a racer, which my friends dad was also, so he noticed when hemis rolled thru. so, they were to put a pitchfork hood on. nope, none on the line so a flat hood went on this car. " we have to keep things moving, they can fix it at the dealership" the Forman stated. I am in the process of building a model of this car now. he also told us storied of a ton of hi-po stuff being thrown out, shakers, 6 pack hoods, spoilers being crushed and tossed because at the end of the year, they have to pay tax on existing inventory, these are musclecar parts, these things get ripped off anyways when the owner gets it and the model year changes from year to year, we cant have these parts laying around. so, the moral of this is, who know what rolled out of the factory or off the showroom floor. so many variations of cars. on paper, yes, it was suppose to come THIS WAY. I am sure that the 50 hemi dodges rolled off the assembly line with single headlight grilles, how many more were installed at dealers, who knows. don't get locked into what the books say, that was a guideline of how it should have been, if it happened that way, who knows. here is a picture of a hemi dodge at the assembly plant, in line with all the rest of the cars.
