Custom models not but stock can be. ahh.. no orange peel for me, and who builds stock anyways!!?? I take offense to that "no stock" comment!
The whole orange peel debate drives me crazy!
Some people say, "Well, all real cars have some orange peel from the factory".
Really?
Do you know what the size of that orange peel would be in 1/25th scale?
It would be imperceptible!
Which is what it should be on a 1/25th scale model!
We can argue about what the sheen of the paint should be like on a model car, but anyone who argues that orange peel should be visible is either unwilling or incapable of producing a smooth finish!

ha, with my painting talent (yea right) I can get scaled orange peel with no problem!! the only think I cant get is a good paint job. there was a gentleman in our club (R.I.P. Ron Cash) who used to jokingly argue with people at shows that he was able to get orange peel in his paint jobs. he wouldn't give in at all. straight faced, he had people with their noses and inch from his builds looking for orange peel.
when I typed that, I thought of you immediately!! I have 4 stock (almost) builds on my bench right now. so yes, I build stock. no offence was meant by any of my comments, I think there was non taken judging by the laughing face!! we can have a 100 page thread on what some modelers deem "correct", but we wont go there.

hey, that's me!! incapable of a smooth finish. That may be, but I don't recall you ever using the excuse that orange peel should be the norm on a factory finish.
I'm sorry, but that's just dumb!
Mind you, I have not heard anybody suggest that on this forum, but I have heard it in other discussions elsewhere.
Besides, nobody is incapable of a smooth finish.
That's what cutting and polishing is for.

I understand that there is a level of tongue in cheek banter around here.
Especially revolving around stock builds and slant sixes!
