That's disturbing, but not nearly so much as common, ordinary, current production kits with starting bid prices of $29.95 and higher with $12 to $15 shipping charges. I'm just tickled I went bat crap crazy buying kits the last 2 years. I've got more than I'll ever need.
I'd only be happy to see $400 kits if I happened to have a small truckload. LOL!

Just saw a mint, sealed '71 Demon kit for $415.00 on the bay! Yikes!!! What's even crazier is that it only took 4 bids to get that high. It will be interesting to see what it sells for.

Try finding out how much a JoHan 65 Chrysler 300 goes for a couple years ago I saw one on eBay go for $4000 and it was open. I was lucky to pick my unopened on eBay for only $150. Yea I was tempted to put mine on eBay after I saw that one go for that much but it is worth more to me so it’s in my to build stack.

It's at $475 now with 10 bids. This is unbelievable.

$475.00 is extremely high for an MPC '71 Demon kit, but it's not as ridiculous as you might think for such a rare kit. These kits are nearly non existent! I read somewhere that this was a "mid year" kit produced from the '71 Duster molds that was only produced for a few months. In 1972 the molds were again revamped to produce the '72 Duster. As far as I know, this is the only Dodge Demon kit ever produced and it was only available for a few months. It's only natural that there would be very few in existence & that they would command extravagant prices in pristine form. Especially if it's a sealed kit, which draws the interest of collectors as well who have no intention of ever building it.
The Johan mid '60s Chrysler 300s are rare, but nothing on the same plane as "the" Demon. I have Johan '63-'68 Chrysler 300 kits ranging from restorable built ups, to MIB and I don't remember ever paying more than around $150.00 for any of them.

There were a total of 13 bids and it sold for $510! That is unbelievable and very sad. At that price, the kit is going to sit on a shelf and never be opened.

My wife once spent 130.00 on a mint sealed Thunders Truck for a Christmas present. I did the dirty work of contacting the seller and making the necessary arrangements to get it here. He asked if I was a builder or collector and I told him it was going n the shelf beside my sealed Pro Street 'Cuda and he said that's great. Well then tubbs decided our first build off would be a box stock contest and YEP!! It's built and looks great. Stace
