I was just checking out Rocketfin Hobbies website and saw an announcement that there would be a D100 coming in 2019. Interesting. They're calling it a D100 custom pickup. Shows a LRE without the factory markings.

My one main concern about this is that if it is going to be a true 4X4 kit, it would be a W-100, not a D-100. Unless, and I'm hoping this is the case, they are truly releasing the old long bed kit where you can build it either as a 2wd or a 4X4.

I don't have any at the moment. But I agree with you Bucky. Out of all of the possible rerelease versions, I'd most like to have the long bed with the 2-wd or 4X4 building options. I'm sure the aftermarket could come up with all kinds of conversion parts. I know there's a Club Cab out there although the chassis that comes with it is for a short bed. There's also a fleetside short bed. So all I would really want would be a crew cab conversion and a dually setup. I'd have no end of fun building rigs to haul my cars to the track, to trucks of all sorts, from a beat-up old work truck to a pro-street to a full-on drag truck.

The picture shown does kind of resemble a 4x4 but bare in mind that it's merely a file photo. There are still a lot of unanswered questions on this upcoming release. Other discussions from other boards is that the presumption is that this kit will be based on the LRE kit with a newly tooled bed, hence a short wheelbase truck. I know the picture doesn't reflect that but until Round2 makes a more substantial announcement it's pure speculation as to what we'll see. |
