What is boxstock? No aftermarket parts, wiring, hoses or fuel/brake lines? 😨

My understanding is that you are only allowed glue, paint, and BMF in addition to what came in the kit box. Paint includes markers and now Molotow pens. Absolutely no kitbashing. Not even a swap of carburetors. Use what came in the box.
I'll stand corrected if somebody else says otherwise. I'm just repeating what I was told on another forum when I asked that question.

These are the typical requirements I see at the model contests that are in Texas.

Can I use sprues to make parts? Spark plug wires can be made with heated and stretched sprues.

This is from the Desert Scale Classic Contest Rules A12 BOX STOCK Entries must be built “OUT OF THE BOX” in this class. Entries must be displayed with the complete instruction sheet for the model entered. Any type of paint, chrome foil, or decals are permitted. No kit bashing or parts swapping from other kits is permitted. No aftermarket detail parts may be used.

Man, you guys are on the ball. Exactly. And remember, like me, you don't have to participate in all of the monthly themes. I believe this is one I will be missing.

Can I use sprues to make parts? Spark plug wires can be made with heated and stretched sprues. I had a lengthy email exchange with a guy about things like this a while back. I had asked if you are allowed to modify parts that are in the box. What I got as a response was that you are allowed minor modification to correct an obviously incorrect problem with the kit. He said the most obvious correction was the stance of the car. For instance; if the front end of the car is way too high, you can remove parts of pieces to correct the stance. You can not, however, add parts or pieces of parts from outside the box to make the correction. The other thing he pointed out was that you are not allowed to modify any part for cosmetic reasons. For instance; you can't remove part of the roof to "chop the top". Again, I'm only repeating info I got from someone else. This is Al's idea and is for the members of this forum. I'll abide by any rules that are set forth. Box stock is something I can participate in as a newbie. Looking forward to it. I hope the schedule for the monthly builds is posted in advance. That way I can try and have something ready.
