I throw American Motors in with MOPARs now and happened to see this article in the latest Car Craft rag I got. It has some really interesting facts in it as well as describing a fantastic engine build. In case you weren't aware, AMC built the 290, 304, 343, 360, 390, and 401 from the same, basic block. That's pretty impressive engineering. The other thing I saw in the article that popped right out was the torque of the engine they built. 589 lb-ft at 3,500 rpm is pretty impressive. Anyway, here is a link to the article for you guys that might be interested. www.hotrod.com/articles/dyno-tested-440ci-amc-390/

Great info!! Would that make their 440 a small block? Looks like some great engineering went into those motorvators!!

Well, the way I understand the block they used, yes. All of their engines would HAVE to be small blocks. Right?

Fortunately, the site works well on my smartphone and I noticed that the PC had to use a web proxy. Always learning new things
