I've been asked where or how I apply my red lines on tires. So I thought a quick little lesson will show all how I do it. This way you all can try. First your going to need a circle template and a white gel pen. Next place the template over the tire with the diameter line you prefer. Hold it steady and using the gel pen draw the circle. You may have to go around twice to get a nice solid white. You may want to practice on junk tires you'll never use to get the hang of it. And if you mess up you can always wash the tire with water and once dry try again. Finally once your happy with your handy work you can leave it white or wait until it dries and paint it red. I use model master acrylic guards red. The great thing about painting over the gel pen white is since you have a great base to get that bright red color. And the black tire tones down so you don't have to worry to much if you paint a little off the white. Hope this helps. Now you can try it and see.

Great info, and seems to be a foolproof method for the stripes! Thanks for posting this. I have one of those templates left over from my pipefitting days.

thanks Ed. great tip. question. I know I am not to steady with the brush, how do you think it will come out if after you put down the white and it dries, you went back over it with a red gel pen? or did the red right on the tire?

I tried with a red gel pen but over a short time the red disappeared and turned a kinda gold color. And using just red paint will not one look straight and two will not look bright because there is no white base.

I have been using the circle templet and the white Jelly Roll pen for years. I also tried using a fine tip blue Sharpie for Blue line tires with some success. I never thought about using clear blue paint over the white. I'll have to give it a try!
