My new project is the Foose '67 Dodge Coronet and this kit has been in the stash for a couple of years. I have seen builds of this kit, but never built as the car from OverHaulin' season 4, episode 6. This is my goal here, but I have to make some changes. The '67 Coronet from the show was a Coronet 440 model and not the Coronet R/T as depicted by the kit. The engine was a modern Hemi and not the second generation Hemi that's in the kit. I will use the Hemi that is in the kit, but the 4-speed transmission will be replace by a TorqueFlite A727 automatic trans and a column shifter. The buckets seats will be made into a bench seat and the R/T emblems will be removed from the body, but if I try to remove them from the grille and taillight panel, which is also wrong for a Coronet 440, I'll end up destroying them. And, I'll remove the hood louvers since the Coronet 440 has a flat hood. Let's see what I can do with this kit... My paint will be Dupli-Color Forest Pearl Green and Tamiya TS-14 Black and the TorqueFlite A727 automatic transmission. More to come...

The first thing I did was to connect the bucket seats together to make a bench seat. I used some styrene rod and will cover the gap with .020 sheet styrene. I may remove the rod from between the seatbacks and created a split between the seatbacks. I filled the hole in the floor pan and with flock this interior floor. I partially assembled the engine and painted it with Mopar Street Hemi Orange paint. This paint will take a few days to gas out. I also have my TorqueFlite A727 Automatic trans and shifter ready for paint. I removed the R/T logos from the body and now for the toughest part of the build...removing the louvers from the hood. I used Tamiya tape to protect the hood while I sand away the louvers. The valve covers have been drilled for plug wires and will be stripped of it's chrome plating as well as the alternator and carbs. More to come...

I'm in for this build, too! I have this kit on the back burner, but I'm not building it as a FOOSE Dodge.

Thanks Keith! Build it anyway you want! Mine will be the Foose version.

I remember Stace had used the complete Charger front clip on a Coronet several years ago. Seemed like a lot of work, but he did it.

Looks good. It seems the kit has no Foose parts than rims. New hemi would have been nice.

Thanks sportabout! I believe the idea was to add a couple of new parts and decals to an existing kit and get it on the market. The new Hemi and an auto trans would have been nice, but it is what it is and I'll correct whatever needs correcting...

Mike, progress looks good. I started one when this kit first came trying to replicate the artwork instead of the actual car.

Thanks Wayne! Generally, a drawing of a car tends to sit lower thatn what the 1:1 car sits at. Having watched that episode of OverHauin', I have a good idea of how low the car actually sits. I'll try to mimic that.

Chip Foose does some amazing custom work, IMHO, and the drawings he does for the customers look great, too. I always thought he tended to exaggerate the drawings to give the illusion of movement.

I haven't gotten a whole lot done on the Foose Coronet, but I do have this... The hood louvers are gone and the hood is almost ready for primer. Just need some more sanding. I got the wheels and tires assembled. I started to assemble the engine and I drilled the distributor for plug wires. More to come...

Nice job on the hood. Wheels look great! I wish I could drill my distributors that good! I have messed up several, so I had to resign myself to buying the aftermarket kind!! LOL

Thanks Keith! I drill my distributors out of necessity. I usually don't have any aftermarket wired distributors on hand. I usually pick up some distributors at the NNL East, but Morgan Automotive Detail wasn't there this past year and I have run out of distributors. I have a couple of Parts by Parks distributors left in the stash, but they lack in detail. I have ruined a few distributors over the years, but I continue to make my own when I can.

Yep. I agree with Keith. I'd like to be able to drill the distributors too but can't because of my hand. So I buy distributors out of necessity, Mike. Yours always look good.
I'm watching this build closely. I'm not a Foose fan, but really want to see what you end up with. Maybe I'll change my mind about Foose kits.
