Did you know that the '55 in "Two Lane Blacktop" was the very same '55 in "American Graffiti"? The only difference was a new paint job.

Yep. Good article. That article also points out one of my other trivia questions about the car. That is, what tranny is in the car? If you've ever driven a car with a Muncie "Rock Crusher", you'll recognize the loud, whining sound of that tranny in scenes where they are talking while driving in "Two Lane Blacktop".
However, in "American Graffiti" the noise is conspicuously absent from scenes where Harrison Ford is talking while driving. I always thought they changed the tranny and maybe even the motor. I later learned that they used a "dummy car" for inside the car talking scenes with Ford. Go figure. 😜

Go figure. 😜 this may not have anything to do with it, but "American Graffiti" was an everyone film. if kids and women and non-car guys heard that rock crusher noise. they would all be irritated. whereas "2 lane blacktop" was a true car guy film. if we DIDN'T hear that noise coming from the tranny, we would all have our panties in a bunch!! so yes, hollyrock did get it right.
