My new hobby room is almost ready. I need a new air brush, maybe Badger Patriot 105. Air compressor is certainly sufficient. Hearing protectors I already have I need a safe spray/paint booth I can use spray paints too. Diy paint booth has two 127 cfm 12 V explosion proof blowers and removable air filter. Shops paint booths are good, but their fan is not intended for painting. An electric spark can easily blow up the paint gas

My hobby room is part of a dusty storage so I started to build a better paint booth. This is 80cm wide and 60cm high and deep. Nothing beats cubic inches . Wood boards are 18 mm laminated timber boards partly light paulownia wood. I'm going to use pre cutted plexi glass to the doors. There will be an intake filter to avoid dust and I'll use my old explosion proof blowers for safe ventilation. I need two passes for my hands to be able paint doors closed but I don't know is it possible to make big holes in plexiglass. These holes need seals too.
I'll use Tamiya acrylic paints for the models so the box need to be painted with alkyd based paint (car sprays).

Those handsaws hanging on the wall...are they what you chop your 1/43 scale kits apart with???
Just kidding, of course!

No. They are for 1/25 chevys and small blocks 😆. Actually I didn't know I have so many saws. I found them all when cleaning the storage.

great start on your paint booth. things are really shaping up. my room is always in a constant change mode. always trying different things, different setups. … and no, nothing beats cubic inches!!

Hahaha I am pretty organized when it comes to my tools and such. doing a lot of work around the house and I have a 5 gallon bucket with an outer sleeve that slips over the bucket. it holds all my tools while I am in the house. when the project is done, I take the bucket out to the garage and put the tools back where they go. works so well now that my older son is out of the house!!

The paint booth will be completed gradually. Wood works is ready and plexiglass door is next project. I'm not familiar to cut 4mm plexiglass (SAN). I bought 1200x600mm sheet and it should be cut to three parts with a hand saw. Is it even possible? Hopefully two fans will suffice, but a third will have room if two aren’t enough.

A jigsaw is one of the preferred tools for cutting acrylic sheets. It is a small handheld tool that can cut the sheet with straight blade by function up and down in fast motion. However, if you are intended to cut acrylic into a nonlinear fashion, then jigsaw is the right option for you. It helps to achieve precise results by cutting the edges into curves and angular form. However, it is advisable to experiment the setting and positioning of the machine to gauge desired results.

I have a jigsaw but it is hard to make a straight line even if I use a guide bar. I found a company that makes plexiglass sheets to order.

If you did cut it with a jigsaw, I might suggest to put down masking tape, and mark a cut line with a fine tip Sharpie. That will decrease the chances of scratching the plexiglass as it is being cut.
