more juice. hi- compression, blower and turbo cars are harder to turn over, plus the distance of the relocation in the trunk. nowadays you have outrageous cranking amp batteries and the need for 2 batteries isn't as big as it was.

And don't EVER use cheap cables from the trunk to the engine compartment. Or, like a buddy of mine tried, don't use a cheap electrical extension cord. He actually took the time to run the cables through the interior of the car, under the carpet, through the firewall. While cranking it during cold weather he set the whole thing on fire. LOL!

Dual batteries are also ballast. Early Bs and A-bodies leave harder with weight added to the trunk. Lots of cars, my es-SS Duster included, have lead-filled tail lamps & such to get weight on the rear.
