You guys might already be aware of this trick, but I just saw it on another forum. To scuff the tread on tires, find a socket the right size to allow the tire to go on snugly. Then put the socket in your drill and use a piece of sandpaper to scuff the rubber. Pretty neat idea, at least to me.

yep, know about it, never done it that way. sit at the bench and do it by hand. scuff tires, that is.

Another trick I've been using is to put the tire on a rotary tool (Dremel) sanding drum and run it lightly across a sanding stick.

Run it a bit more firmly over the stick or a sanding block and it makes an excellent worn-out tire! Quite often with uneven tread wear because tire molds seldom are perfect at smaller scales.
