well, unfortunately a good friend and member of my model club passed at the beginning of the year, he stated in his will that he wanted us (the club) to have first shot at his collection. now he was in his early 80's and had every model he ever bought. well over a thousand builds, a couple thousand unbuilt kits, hundreds of resins, tools, parts packs, years of collecting. i really felt funny taking the stuff but as his wife stated, someone else will just get it and he wanted us to have it. anyways, a few weeks ago, the club met over his house and went thru his stuff.
i came out of there with a ton of scale auto, model car magazine, plastic fantastic, model car science and a few other oddball model magazines, (#1 thru the early 2000's scale auto). about a thousand 50' thru 80's car magazines. i got a build of his, a 6 banger 70 cuda. yes, you guys are not the only ones that know i think 6 bangers suck. he built it to tease me. i got a 66 Belvedere sedan resin. unbuilt kits, Mopar wise, i got a 65 belvedere II, an AAR cuda, a 70 Charger. non Mopar, a 69 Chevelle, a Foose 53 ford truck, 3 or 4 32 ford street rods, 2 57 chevy black widows, 3 55 chevys and a 55 chevy that he started customizing and never finished. very cool kit. i also got 8 or so boxes of old buildups and parts boxes including a lot of johan and screw bottom Mopar stuff. tons of wheels and tires. i know i am forgetting some stuff too.
he was a huge chevy and street rod guy. he wasn't a big Mopar type of guy. after al got thru (there was about 8 of us there) be barely scratched the surface of the stuff he had there. stuff i left behind, AMT and/or MPC Challenger builds from 70 thru 74, same in chargers, 68 thru 72. i was there for about 3 hours and saw half of what he had. i believe she has a buyer for the rest of it. i would really like to go back and get his machinists tool box, just to have it.
it was a sad day, but like a few guys said, this is what he wanted. now i have his 6 banger Cuda sitting at the top of my bench. rest in peace Al!!

also, got an order in from Harts Parts. can't say enough about this guy's stuff, no flash, super clean and not that expensive. ordered 2 68 hemi cuda conversion and a non-R/T coronet grille. received a stock hooded 68 cuda conversion from Marty so now i have 3 conversions. thanks Marty. got some stomach virus lately, so bad on Tuesday, i left work. i can't remember the last time i called off work. anyways, haven't been down building in a few days because of it. i know what it's like to sleep 5 hours in the middle of the day.

Heck of a score, though a sad reason; love the Slant Barracuda. And the '66 Coronet is cool - I like that a lot !
