"Super Clean" - degreaser in a purple bottle/jug - works like magic. Just stripped an AMT body that had a lot of paint on it, enamel and lacquer, came out like new. That's the deal that led to my post about the tin baking pan - it ate a hole in it. An old glass bowl or whatever is probably the best vat to soak it in. About a day. It also strips chrome plating in minutes.

I use liquid plumber in a plastic container that seals tightly with a lid to strip chrome from plastic parts; which allows me to swirl the caustic bath every so often. Depending on the chrome job from the manufacturer, I have seen some strip in an hour or two, but I have also seen some that have taken over night to completely clean up.
Another tip, If you go the Easy Off route, be careful which one you buy, because I hear the Fume Free version does not work!
Finally, if you want to strip lacquer, get yourself some 91 percent Isopropyl alcohol at the drug store. You can immerse the plastic parts for as long as 24 hours, but the sooner you are able to remove them the better because it eventually will make the styrene plastic brittle. I use a polypropylene shoe box and fill it up a third with 91% IPA. Occasionally, I will scrub the parts gently with a tooth brush (with safety glasses and gloves) every so often to hasten the process. I have stripped bodies that were painted with lacquer in a few hours with this method.
