looking good so far Mike. you did the right thing painting the whole thing. if i get that far on a build to burn thru the paint, i paint the whole thing over again instead of touching up. really like the color on this. have a few in the stash i will be breaking out in a few years or so.

I saw this kit and I started thinking that I already have done two. So what's another one? As you can see, I bought it!

i an not such an impulse buyer. i have always bought kits for a certain build or a purpose, like parts. i wish i was more of an impulse guy. i may have a lot more different stuff in the stash.

My impulses run from needing specific parts to wanting an actual kit. Sometimes I buy a kit just to look inside the box at the dfferent sprues, then I have to figure out just what I want to do with the kit that I just opened. I may donate the kit to my Model Club for the meeting raffle or I'll build it just to get it out of the way. Sealed kits are for our Club Exhibition and open, but complete kits are for our meetings.

It has been a while since I have actually worked on the '71 Roadrunner. I have been trying to decide if I should strip the lousy paint job or sand it. Tonight I chose to sand it. After sanding, I gave the body a bath and it looks 100% better! Tomorrow, I will sand the hood so it will match the body and then wash it. Then, when everything is dry, I will repaint the body and hood. More Roadrunner to come...

I sanded the hood yesterday and I am heading to the kitchen sink for a good scrubbing with Dawn Dish Detergent and warm water. When this has dried, a repaint in in order with Model Master Green Go. More Plymouth to come...

Honestly, rattle cans generally only seem to work well for me on undercarriages & such; I feel like I'm using a fire hose. But there are some things where I just don't want a brushed appearance. Tamiya seems better than Testor's for me so far, but I prefer an airbrush for its control & volume/pressure. That said, I painted my transporter trailer with a regular ol' rattle can from the hardware store and it came out well, but I made a big crude cardboard-box booth for that because the weather was nice. As for model purchases, I've bought a few simply because I'd forgotten I already had one or two !

I have lots of rattle cans that I am slowly using up. Model Master and Testors is going away, but are being replaced by Tamiya sprays. My paintbooth is manufactured by me from wood and resides in the house. I also use it as a photobooth when I need decent photos taken.

my paint booth may look familiar to some who worked around printers back in the Flintstone's era. this covered the printers because they were so loud. this muffled the noise. got it from Ford when i contracted there back in the mid 80's. has not been cleaned since. soooo much dust inside. one of these days. suckers heavy as hell.

Yep! My second job out of High School was at Centronics Data Computer Corp in Hudson, NH in 1974. Back in the '70s, printers compared to today are like the Flintstone era of a tiny bird chiseling a flat piece of stone. I got parts for them, built them, tested them, ran them for hours. I stayed at that facility until they closed the doors and moved to Virginia. They are now a distant memory...

sad. sorry to hear that. hate to see any company go under. going to happen a lot with this mandate coming in early 2022. but that is not for this site, at least this thread where a classic 71 road runner 440+6 is being constructed. plus, i am trying to get any edge i can on putting this together because it is my buildoff cars... oh did i say CARS with an S!! as in plural??
