I’m starting late here and hoping to be able to meet the time line to finish this one. There’s a good chance that I going back to work and it’s working out of town so my build time may be very limited. Any way this is a resin kit I picked up a long time ago like 6 or 8 years so I’m sure I meet the build requirements on this one. I have a goal to build all the 300’s from 55 to this one 1970. Currently I have a 68 300 done and have kits for all the other ones except for 60 & 61. I’m looking for them but they are very rare. Here’s what I’m starting with.

Worked on the engine compartment today and have it ruffed in to where I know that everything will fit. Also added some trim for the vinyl top.

looking great so far. nice job on the top.
a lot of people on facebook, well, the people that do vinyl tops, are getting away from the masking tape and using rustolium textured paints. less work i guess. i have only seen the results thru pictures. not in person yet. i would be afraid that the paint would give you a much bigger pattern than the masking tape.

I agree Al plus how do they get the seam lines to look right. I started on the engine and found the tires that I’m going to use. I’m also working on the interior to make it fit better. The engine compartment is fitting up nicely so far everything is fitting.

The only thing to remember on the tape is to use the wide blue tape if you don't want a center seam and remember to watch the direction you lay it down on the sides as it does have a one direction grain to it... looks wrong if you don't pay attention and you have to redo it to make it right. I agree that the textured paint is too grainy for the scales we work in.

Joe the picture showing the tape was my first try I removed that one and removed the seam in the middle on the second application. I got lucky on the direction I put them all on going the same direction. Thanks for pointing that out on the grain direction.

I made that mistake on an El Camino on my first try... after primer was applied I realized my mistake staring blatantly in my face and had to rip it off and redo it! I saw you had fixed the middle seam... that message was for others who may try, ha, ha!!!
