Hi all! Crizila here. New to this site. I am a retired Mopar racer and model builder from waaaay back. When I am not working on my latest full size project, I am gluing stuff together. I mostly work in 1/24 - 1/25 scale and mostly drag stuff, although I dabble in roundy round models also. Looking forward to "cutting a good light" and participating on this site. John

welcome Crizila. look forward to seeing some of your stuff. both 1:1 and scaled builds. love to hear them old school drag stories. we are pretty loose group. we dont police you, not gonna smack your wrist for a little colorful laguage, as long as it isn't fired at someone. you will notice some of us are on a big semi build theme. we do allow other builds to be shown here. we understand everyone does not just build mopars. that is the main course we travel though.
again, welcome.

Welcome to the board John! Looking forward to seeing your builds! And maybe some time you can come down from Payson and come to one of our model car meetings? I belong to two clubs, Moonlight Modelers and The Model Car mafia. You can PM me for more info.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! A little background on me; I grew up in the midwest ( chicago suburbs). My first Mopar was a 58 Chrysler 300D. In 63, a year out of HS, I bought a brand new 63 Plymouth Sport Fury Max wedge Convert - 3 speed on the floor. Didn't realize how rare that combo was at the time. That car introduced me into the world of drag racing. Ran it at all the local tracks - US30, Oswego, Union Grove, Rockford. Ran a best of 12.41@116.88 in 65. When I got out of the service, joined forces with a couple other guys and got serious. We ran a max wedge 64 Dodge in the AHRA midwest division 5 circuit in F1/BS automatic. Held that class record for a while at 11.61@117. Got married in 69 and my racing career was over for a loooong time. Finally retired on 02. Acquired a 79 Chrysler 300 from my father in 94. This car, a real nice driver, got no respect on the street. I decided to fix that, so I "warmed up" the 360 and started to go to the track ( Byron - was Rockford dragway ) now and then to "check" on my engine mods. In the meantime, I finally found the woman of my dreams ( they say 3 is a charm ), and she became my race partner and pit crew. I finally got the 300 to run a best of 11.80 at Byron. Fast forward again to 2010. Mary retired and we moved to Payson to be near our kids. We enjoyed racing together so we joined the ADRA ( Arizona Drag Race Association ). Raced the 300 a few years (normally aspirated) with a best of 11.53 at Speed World. We were knocking on the full race car door ( need a 6 point cage to run faster than 11.50 ), not to mention I was starting wrinkle the body through the "B" pillar due to a large unibody car. So, we decided to get serious in about 2012. Out went the "real Corinthian leather" and in went an 8 point cage. Car went on a major diet, and the old 360 got updated, including the addition of a supercharger. The mods put the motor in the 650 HP range and the car in the mid 10's with a best of 10.50@128.38 MPH. I probably had the fastest "land yacht" in existence. In 2015, when Speed closed, there was only 2 tracks left in Az. and one of those was in Tucson. Between that and the fact that I was cranking over 70, it was time for us to hang up the racing venue. I still enjoy building cars, but for street use these days. Through all of this, I never lost my love for modeling and always have a model project going on on my model work bench. Thanks again, John ( crizila).

Thanks Joe. Hope I didn't rattle on too much. All the guys I used to race with now call me a waxer. I miss it at times, but I don't miss sitting in the staging lanes with my helmet on and sweat dripping off my chin.
