This why I never finish anything. The purple one, the drivers side came out great. The passenger side came out darker and a ton of orange peel. the yellow GTX fell off the paint stand. SCREW THIS!!

I had a few months with car paint problems... I was stripping bad car paint more then building... This is when I take a step back and build armor models... they are expected to be beat up and dirty... no stress in getting a mirror clean finish...
Go find a kit of an old Dodge army truck and enjoy a fun stress-free painting experience!

As to the purple it had more coats of paint applied to make it darker on the one side then the other... I have learned to count them cause my hoods were always coming out a different shade for this reason until I figured out the number of coats have to be the same on some colors...

All you can do is dump it into the purple stuff and start over. I had to paint 3 times and strip 2 my 70 Charger. Finally got the paint right just waiting for a warmer day to clear it.

Al I’m feeling your pain. I’m on my 6th attempt to get the hood on my KW painted. First mistake was to use a new primer with out testing it and it reacted with the lacquer paint then after spraying on the second color the tape peeled some paint plus I used the wrong yellow paint then more paint peeling so I have new primer on the one fender that peeled before so now I’ll see if I can remove the tape off with out peeling off any paint. Then I will just have to tape off the hood and paint the fenders green again.

Hey, if it was easy, anyone could do it, right ? Analyze, fix, and git 'er done. FWIW, every time I rush something, it bites my ass.

A - my compressor is not putting out the air it once was. not enough umph!! B - too cold in the basement. C - 20 year old paint D - prep work sucked. thats my list. maybe i will put a call into McNally and let him figure it out.

Well you may not be able to work on them right now, but they sure make one hell of a headboard.
