After looking at engine colors during my research, a semi gloss green is the most used engine color. I have seen pictures of reds and blacks as well. Some are very glossy and some are very flat.

I finally got some Tamiya Grey Fine Surface Prime on the Mini chassis and I installed the engine. I painted the interior floor with Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black and the body parts got a coat of Tamiya White Fine Surface Primer. More Mini to come...

Thanks Joe! I find it amazing just how many small parts go into making this small model car!

A little time this afternoon at the paintbooth! I painted the body and other pieces with Tamiya TS-86 Pure Red, the roof with Tamiya TS-26 Pure White, A second coat for the interior platform with Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black. Now to let this dry and maybe a couple of coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear to be added. More Mini to come...

A mockup to check my work. Other than the fit of the hood (bonnet), everything looks good! The hood fit can use some adjustment. More Mini to come...

I clearcoated my Mini Cooper and I am for the most part, not happy! I washed, air-dryed, primered and painted the Mini and when I clearcoated the body, the paint ran away from the door edges. Arrgh! More Mini to come...

what the hell would cause that? I don't know. Maybe I didn't scrub the door lines as well as I wanted? I found a red Sharpie that is close to the Pure Red I used, sharpened the tip and traced the door lines. When that is good and dry, I'll polish the paint with Novus 2 and hope for the best!
