Got a Revell 2013 Challenger kit that is prepainted plumb crazy purple but it’s got dual white decal stripes front to back. I hate the stripes but want to keep the purple. What’s the best way to remove them without damaging the paint? Any ideas?

Ed if there’s no clear coat over the decals try putting some tape (duck tape)on the decals to pull them off. It may work but that’s what I would try first other wise it’s sanding them off.

Oh man I really don’t want to sand them off. I guess I’ll try the tape and see.

You might try decal softener on em and rub them off while they are wet?

Well I opened up the box and found out those stripes are painted on. 😭looks like I’m either have to leave them on. Which are poorly painted or slowly sand them off hoping I won’t ruin that nice purple paint.

Or remask it and repaint them a tiny bit wider to cover the bad edges...

Or paint them a darker purple for a ghost look...

Going to have to think on it and see what is best. I may just repaint the whole thing.

I think easiest is to paint hood/roof/trunk lid after sanding out the stripes. BUT that means matching the purple. I'd guess it's lacquer ?
