This’68 Charger with the slant six took best engine at the HAMS show last Saturday here in Houston. There were 223 entries this year with 12 of them being mine. I know Marty you will like this and Al well let’s see how he’s going to reply.

Pretty funny, but cool. I wonder if you could get HD Cooling (26" radiator) and 70-amp battery (Group 27, red caps) with a Slant 6? For anyone that cares, the 2-speed wiper motors were black, and it looks like he used an air cleaner decal on the upper yoke instead of the coolant decal. I don't recall the correct color for a '68 B power brake booster. There's a couple other details, but it's a very nice build.

do you really want me to comment? execution's really good. technically, lots of things wrong. he didn't do his research for this conversion. i guess its just a pity win. the judges probably said "who the hell would build one of these? poor guy, must not have a good parts box." or else it's one of the judge's builds. here is an unrestored barn find 6 banger. seriously, if you are going to do a conversion like this, do at least a little research.

They judge by the IPMS rules so if it looks nice and a clean build that’s all you need. Plus if you add a lot of weathering you have a better chance of getting picked. I go to the show with my models for the other model builders and visitors to see what I’ve done and if any of them place its just a bonus for me. This show I picked up a 3rd place with my Autocar 7 car transporter. This year I had my own table lol.

Thanks Joe. I joined the HAMS model club last year so this year I helped set up tables for the show the night before and they asked me what I was going to bring and they said I would have my own table. So I had a night to sleep on how to arrange all of them on the table.

Al I was able to get them all in to the show with 4 trips to the car and about 30 minutes to unpack them and set them up. Over all with all the packing and unpacking it’s about 4 hours total. That’s including fixing the parts that come off with moving them. The cars are easy compared to the trucks lol.
