just a side note... CUT THEM PARTS OFF THE DAMN SPRU TREES!! i know, they hold the parts for painting.. yada,yada,yada... i can't get the parts off the trees fast enough. if i could buy models with just the parts in there, that would be a wonderful thing.
OK, carry on.

Thanks Ed
Thanks dge467 I’m waiting on the weather here to let me spray the next coat on.
Thanks Al. Most of the painted parts still on the trees are black and I touch them up with a black Sharpie lol.

does a master chef get food on himself when cooking? does a certified plumber get wet? well a master builder like myself gets paint on himself. i also use a lot of alligator clips and poster putty. all kidding aside, i assemble as much as i can before painting. engines are different colors than trans. alligator clip the trans and paint the engine, come back and paint the trans. door panels are often different colors or types of paint. CUT THEM PARTS OFF THE SPRUS, MY FRIENDS!! side note, i really go nuts when i use the air gun or cans... i don't use gloves!! what a crazy SOB i am!! here is something else, when i start a project, i take all the parts out, stash the ones i am not using, put the rest in a white box or storage container and get rid of the box!! crazy right. the pictures below shows a bunch of projects in the containers and in the background you will see all the white boxes filled with projects. only way to roll fellas. now back to our regularly scheduled post.

Thanks Al I also build subassemblies and paint them to. I do the same with my engines to build them and then paint them.

Well yeah, sorta - for example, if there's 6 pieces for an engine and they all get the same color, I assemble them first. But my true talent is flipping tiny parts off into the carpet or the 4th dimension where I can't find 'em...even when I'm using tweezers. So mostly I find painting 'em on the sprue initially is easier & quicker.

Al I force myself to work over my bench because I don’t like wasting time looking for my drops in my carpet. My MAD distributors came in and I’ve finished wiring the Hemi in the Charger.
