Thanks Joe! I still have a long ways to go on this model. Typical old AMT model kit with many parts that are chrome plated that has to be removed and painted.

Now that the chrome has been removed from some of the engine parts, I can move ahead with assembly of the engine like the front engine cover and the oil pan and then paint. I glued the carbs to the superchargers and I drilled out the air inlets for the carbs and will detail them later. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will return...

You are correct that this car seems kind of "spacey". This is the second version of this kit that I have owned. The first was the original version from 1965/1966 when it was first introduced. That kit is long gone after I put it together with glue and no paint. My parents didn't trust me with paints for some reason. Hold onto that thermos, it is a collectors item!

I started assembling the Corvair motor for the U.N.C.L.E. car and everything went well until I went to install the intake manifolds. There are none! I guess I shall have to improvise and make some based on the drawings provided and some research on the internet. The doors have been taped to the roof and now I can mark my slots in the laser beam unit for the new hinges I will be making from 5/32 inch styrene tubing. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will return...

The intake manifolds are right in the middle of the chrome tree on my kit... they are small so hard to see...

Thanks Joe and Al! Guess what I just found...my intake manifolds! I had clipped some parts from the chrome sprue and put them in a container with some Easy-Off Oven Cleaner and I just washed them. This container has been sitting in front of me for a couple of days and I never thought of looking in there! Now to let them dry and to paint them.

I must thank you Joe! I have placed the container on my bench and placed a can of Tamiya TS-58 on top of it. I knew the parts were in there and knew where they went, but I never thought about it. And, there they were!

I have completed the engine...mostly. I just have to reposition the plug wires a bit. This engine has fought me for the last 24 hours and now it is done! The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will return...
