I’m starting with a Testors 1971 Cuda that is lacking a lot of detail so I’m going to do what I can using the Revell 70 T/A Cuda kit. Seeing how the body is missing the side vents that the 71 Cuda had I’m going to make it a Barracuda with a 383 in it and a bench seat.

That sounds ambitious ! I'd have thought a good '71 'Cuda kit would be out there, but I've never looked for one. The separate gas tank is interesting; haven't seen that before, I think. I think someone's making decals for the gills, but without the contours, that would fall a bit short.

Isn’t the Testors Cuda just a reboxed Johan kit?
I’ll be keeping my eye on this one

An interesting project. The Revell '70 Cuda is a good donor kit and I hope the chassis fits easily. I have had the idea of combining a Revell '70 Hemi Cuda with a Revell '71 Hemi Cuda convertible.

Thanks Topside Revell has one but it’s 1/24 scale and I need a 1/25 scale for my next car transporter. Seeing that only the Cuda had the gills that’s one reason I’m going with the Barracuda version that didn’t have them. This kit is not meant to be a factory stock build.

So far with my test fitting it looks like it goes in pretty good. The one thing that is different between the Revell 70 Cuda and the 71 is that the 70 is 1/25 scale and the 71 is 1/24 scale.

I’ve been wanting to this also. I have a Johan 71 cuda that I added the fender vents. But the project stalled. I guess you can cut down the seats from a Monogram/Revell cuda. The door panels are the same in the Revell 70 cuda. And the hood sizes are all different. I’m curious how you solve these problems.

I always wondered if it was possible to cut down the grill front valance and tail light section from the Revell 1/24 scale cuda. And cut out the gills and use them by inserting them on the Revell 70 kit cuda.

Ed , I decided not to try to add the side vents and just make it a plan Barracuda. The Revell 70 Cuda’s so far seam to fit with out too much adjustment. I’m going to use the bench seat from the 71 Charger. I’m also thinking about reworking the 340 to a 318 instead of the 383.

you can get a 383 in a Barracuda, but it is a 2 bbl. you can get the hipo 3340 in a barracuda Gran Coupe. you can make a standard Barracuda day 2 car and transplant a 440 in it. hmmm, i wonder if Keith Marks makes the gran coupe decal? be on the lookout for a message Mopar. may have a few questions for you.

Al Keith has the Gran Coupe decals for the 70 Barracuda that would work on the 71.
