This was an old AMT kit that had a few failed paint jobs and lost parts, but I just couldn't throw it out. So I decided to play with some modifications and see if it could be saved somewhat. Did it as a curbside, using parts from other kits as necessary. Got lacquer to work over enamel, though I can't recommend it as it stays soft for a long time.
Always been a fan of the '60s Cup cars, so decided on that theme. Front is lowered to the point of grinding the apron tops, air dam & exhaust are aluminum. The red thing at the back is a fuel cell.
Learned a fair amount - but I'm glad I have no other junkers !

Thanks - the color is Scale Finishes' Petty Blue, but to me looks a bit dark. No matter, really; it's not a replica, and it seemed an appropriate color. Testor's Extreme clear over the blue. Fun fact: sanding down the backs of the tail lamps & swapping side/side is a better fit than box stock. And thanks to Al (Tubbs) for the hood.

Nah, it's just a curbside deal - fought me all the way as it was. I just wanted to see if I could save it, and try out a few ideas. Someday I might do a proper NASCAR version.
