Before I started building model cars, I collected the dealer promotional models that were made by Amt,Mpc, & Jo-han.One that has always baffled me was the rear bumper fit on the rear of the 72 GTO promo. Looks like a factory error as every one that have seen has this error. Guess quality control was absent on this one. Any other promo collectors feel free to chime in on this.

I'd be tempted to tear it apart and fix it! But that's just me...

While a good idea, it would lower the promo value. Nice ones usually sell in the $225.00-$275.00 range. I would just leave it and build the model kit.

That IS weird - though they were also pretty casual about the GTO nameplates & splitter tailpipe tips.

I wonder if all of them are molded that way? Or was it just that one? My Dart Sport promo was made with the chassis inner wheel house too big. The kits are made the same way.

Interesting: looks like they used the Duster chassis for the Dart Sport. Duster fender wheel openings don't slant back as much as Darts. Wonder if that's been corrected on the re-tooled Demon kits ?

From what I understand the promo pieces were made first then the molds were used to make the kits. As far as the Demon kit Round 2 says it is all new engineering so most likely it will not have that problem. There are a few dry run builds on YouTube of the Demon 340. Hope the Demons come out soon as a buddy of mine who sadly passed away had the real car in a brown metallic. I want to build one and give it to his daughters.

I’m sure they will appreciate that replica of their fathers car.

If anyone knows of any reputable sellers of dealer promotional models LMK. The only ones I used to buy from was Wheat's Nostalgia (No longer in business) & Vintage Vendor.

brings up a sore subject. long ago, a friend ran into a bunch of promos. all mopars. 70 hemi cudas, GTX, Challengers. he gave them to me to try to sell. i probably had them for 10 years or so. they ended up moving. finally one day i hunted him down and brought them back to him. he asked me if i wanted them..... i said no, knowing how much value was in there. he thanked me for trying to sell them and for bringing them back. i bet they found the trash shortly after that. one that stuck out to me was a slime green hemi cuda that did not have the hockey stripe in the back.

Great story. Those hemi cudas sell for crazy money and the others are not far off in price if you can find them. The promos from M pc came with a decal sheet of stripes so you had to put them on yourself. I could never afford the hemi cudas so I made a faux one from the current kit.
