hey guys, thought it was the right thing to do to share my part of a conversation i had about the site. i was rightfully questioned (a while ago) about my participation on this site and here was my answer;
"sorry guys, i do appreciate all your efforts to keep this site alive. to tell you the truth, my interest faded real fast when we went to all brands instead of just Mopars. i am speaking honestly here. back in the day, it was all Mopar information on models and 1:1 stuff. very informative people on the Mopar subject. now that we are all brands, sure i am interested in all the builds, but not like i was before. (edited name and content to protect the other paarty), but i can only see so much of that stuff, mainly because i don't understand what i am looking at. love to see it, but i don't look at it like i look at and understand Mopars.
Facebook has hit all of these Preboards hard also. i belong to over 100 Facebook sites. most of them i get invites and join just because. i frequently go to maybe 5 or 6, 2 scale Mopar, 2 1:1 Mopar and a handful drag sites, both model and 1:1. i am an admin at one, but rarely go there unless i have to do the themes for the week. there is nothing to be done here to bring my attendance up. sorry to say. granted, this was an extended layoff because of a few family passings, a vacation and life. you all know i do not get on weekends and even my attendance to other sites has diminished greatly. if it wasn't for spotty boredom at work, i probably wouldn't be on any of the sites except for my fantasy baseball just to set my lineup. my need for the internet is becoming a necessity. only on when i have to be. otherwise, i am playing with the grandkids, in the pool, outside doing chores, bowling, putt-putting, sitting on the couch, throwing darts, playing pool or just plain old farting around. even my modeling time has dwindled to maybe 2 or 3 hours a week if that.
you know these memes you see, would you live in the woods for a year without the internet, social media and suck for a million dollars? well, just give me the cabin (with electric and plumbing) and you can keep the money. i still don't, well rarely take any photos of my builds, i don't take photos at car shows or anywhere else. why, because i don't carry my phone anymore. i average less than 5 minutes a day on the phone. kind of a long way to explain myself, but i wanted to be up front and honest with you guys. YOU GUYS are the reason this place is still holding on because i would have shut it down long ago.
i will still be around, but the harsh reality is what you have now is it, it isn't going to get any better. i have invited several Mopar guys here and they left because it wasn't all Mopar. i have invited other people i know to come here and they have too many facebook groups. i understand your frustration and i greatly appreciate your passion, but i believe it is what it is as of now. i am not shutting the site down so don't worry about that, but i do not have control over what you guys want to do. if you want to leave, well that is your choice. i cannot tell you to cut your effort down because you are who you are. you want to see it succeed and maybe i will just leave this right here.
no matter what happens to the site, i appreciate you all and thank you for what you have contributed to it."
i will not disclose the other party or parties involved. i thought it was the right thing to do in sharing this. no matter how much i contribute, you guys are whats keeping this site going. i am not promising anything, but i will make a conscious effort to be a better participant. this site will not shut down so good or bad, you don't have to worry about that. if you guys want to beat me up, i deserve it.
