Round two on the headers... I'm using 0.062 solder for the header pipes and Speed City's header collectors and flanges to complete them. www.speedcityresin.com/PartsPageEngine.htmlHonestly attempt one was meant to be a practice run so I didn't put as much effort into them as I felt they deserved. This attempt was a little better and I may settle for the resulting mess if I can clean them up a bit. I started by drilling into the collector to the size of my header tubes, or at least that was my intent. I ended up oversizing the hole a bit but no big deal. I then super glued the header pipes, cut over long, into collectors. With this set of headers, I started at the collector and worked my way up to the flanges. You may notice an overabundance of super glue, that was because of impatience and a slightly clogged tube of super glue. Lesson re-learned. All in all the first shaping went well, and I was fairly happy with the results. Getting them snaked around the suspension was a bit of a pain, but not impossible... Once I had them bent up I test fitted them and am fairly pleased with the results... I feel that the look of the headers peeking out under the car is just right. I ended up breaking the supplied flanges and will be making some out of styrene in the near future. If any of you guys would like I would be willing to slow down and do a step by step when I do the passenger side header.

OK. I'll ask. Could you please do the step by step? Not sure when, but at some point down the road I'm going to have to create a set of headers for my notchback Barracuda tribute build. I can't find a set of headers that are going to work. Maybe if I start playing with making them now I'll have it figured out by then. Be sure and include real detailed instruction on how you do the flanges and collectors. Thanks in advance for this one, Eric!

Thanks for commenting Steve. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend, I have a lot of medical tests coming up this week, two of which I'll have to be under for. So if you get those counters done you may be back to building before I am.
If anyone has any advice or comments on the work I'm doing, don't be shy. I appreciate all comments that make my skills better or at least acknowledge I'm on the right track!

So while working on the driver's side header on this build I decided that the stock 340 intake wasn't going to cut it. I couldn't find a suitable substitute for an LA engine when I stumbled across a victor SBC manifold at Shape Ways and the gears started to churn. I knew that there is very little outward difference between what I wanted and what there is available. So here is what I came up with... and this is what I did to make it... Yup! I just took the back part of the stockmanifold and added it to the notched out brand x manifold. By the way, any of you who are not familiar with Shape Ways products, be aware this stuff is very brittle and although plastic it does not bond to anything using model cement, Super Glue is a must. I just learned all of this today my self.

Now I'm defiantly going to need a Fireball carb. I'm thinking a Carter AVS for this one.

So I was watching a couple of YouTube videos on model painting and thought I'd experiment on my Dart's hood. I have a spare now so why not. here's the result... Now the only problem is matching the rest of the car. LOL

I think there is a folder. if not, I will get one up in a month or so...seriously, anyone is welcome to post up little tips and treasures you guys may have, I seriously will look today and make sure we have a folder for them.

It would go in the "Tech And Questions". Wouldn't it? Seems logical to me.

I fired up the paint booth and compressor and got a bit busy today. I think the Dart could use another coat on the body. I know the red Roadrunner needs at least one more coat too.

I know I'm all over the place on this one, but I guess I'm too personally involved with it. Wow, that sounded weird, but I can't think of another way to put it. So this one will come along in bits and pieces. Got some paint on it, so maybe more progress will happen soon. In the background are the Red Roadrunner and a Camaro that I got on eBay that had been painted that nice green already. Some of the other parts were painted too but I stripped those and am repainting them. There are also a few Maisto Harleys that I got as background fillers

The green on the Dart looks great! What shade of green is that?

It's Testors Model Masters Acrylic Teal. I'm trying to avoid enamels and lacquer paints, at least for now.

It's a great color. Looks like it was made for a Dart!
