I have to agree with you Steve on the choice between MCW and Scale Finishes. I would prefer that MCW would use the same bottles that Scale Finishes uses. Great repair on your paint chip. HA, i buy the .99 cent cans at OLLIE'S and hope they spray!! not true, i am in the process of going thru my cans pf paint. if it don't spray, in the trash it goes.

... yea, but if the painter has a filthy booth, inadequate equipment and even less talent and patience. he ain't never gonna get a paint job like that. great work Steve. nice fix. Ha!! Apparently, you haven't seen my work space and equipment! Steve
it shouldn't be any other way. yea, your work space may be a mess (guessing, but any true builders space is), but you have much more patience than me, i guarantee that!

Squeaker indeed! But the repair looks fine to me, good job. I've learned that the smaller MCW bottles are just barely enough if I use a ground coat, but if I'm painting the whole underside & interior as well, I'll need to get a 2nd bottle. The other place - Scale Finishes - has larger bottles, more cost-effective for times when MCW isn't quite enough. I agree about Scale Finishes being more cost effective.
My only gripe is the fact that they use larger metallic particles in their metallic paint.
I use MCW whenever I can find the color that I want because the particles in their metallics are much more in scale.
Steve
I’ve never used MCW paint before and didn’t know about the difference in their metallics. I’ve always use Scale Finishes and Jameston has alway been able to mix up anything I’ve ever needed.

I agree that Scale Finishes has a much better selection of ready made colors. I used Scale Finishes '68 Olds "Cinnamon Bronze" on my 442, and '64 Pontiac "Sunfire Red" on my Grand Prix, neither of which was available from MCW without going the "special order" route.
I like their paints, but I just wish that they would tone down the metallic a little.
As you can see with the MCW paint on my '68 Dodge, it's virtually impossible to see any individual metallic particles without getting unrealistically close. MCW's metallic paints are perfect for 1/25th scale, exhibiting a fantastic metallic sheen, without evident metallic particles.

So, tonight I mustered the courage to begin laying out and spraying on the bumblebee stripes.
The first portion went well!
Next, I will put on another clear coat to seal and protect what I have finished, and then I will lay out and spray the thin outer stripes.
A little more difficult, but I'm confident that my plan of doing these stripes in two separate sessions will make them easier to complete.

Steve your stripes are coming along nicely and I’m looking forward to seeing you add the small ones next. Seeing your getting closer to finishing this one have you thought about what your next build will be?

Seeing your getting closer to finishing this one have you thought about what your next build will be? I've been working on this one so long that over that time, I've seriously contemplated about a dozen others for the next one. So many, that now I don't know what I'm going to do.
My original thought was a '64 Pontiac Bonneville convertible. But a bunch of others have also grabbed my attention, including a Johan '67 Plymouth Fury, MPC '66 Pontiac Bonneville, and an MPC 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix, among others.
I have some time to make a decision I guess.

Stripes are finished.
In retrospect, they're a little too far forward and spaced a little too wide, but at this point, there's no changing them.
I guess I'm okay with them.

They look awesome Steve! That’s the same one I have to and I also have the 68 one. Some day I will build them both factory stock and put them on my auto transporters.
