Steve that’s going to look perfect with the chrome bumper on. Thank you!
I had just enough paint left to get the magnetic hood hinges painted.
They just need a little clear.

Awesome work so far! You may have spent some time polishing, but you didn't go away empty-handed! The paint looks as smooth as glass!

Thanks guys.
Here's what I've been doing for the past week or so.
First, I masked and sprayed the inside of the roof with some Tamiya "Light Sand".
Then I sprayed the outer portion of the firewall with some undercoating, and some flat black on the front of the radiator bulkhead.
Then I masked and sprayed undercoating on the inner fender wells.
A real masking nightmare!
Finally, I began tackling the vinyl top.
I decided that rather than worry about either masking the trim or sanding the texture off of it for foiling, I would foil it first, mask and paint, and then clean the texture paint from the trim afterwards.
I made a very advantageous discovery during this operation. I discovered that the paint that I used does not stick well at all to the foil, which made cleaning any paint from he trim very easy by just lightly rubbing it off with a sharpened tooth pick. No thinner required!

Very sharp looking Steve! Glad to see that your method with the BMF worked out good for you.

looking good Steve. all that masking, you must have stock in 3M. anyways, a couple questions, probably been asked before, but what paint or technique do you use for your top and undercoating?

Normally, I just use a flat black paint shot from a distance for texture, and then just rubbed down a little.
This time I decided to try a texture paint, (MCW vinyl top paint) and I wasn't nearly as satisfied.
After contemplating for a while, I decided that I wasn't happy with the shine either, so I gave it another couple of coats of flat black primer, rubbed it out a bit, and gave it a once over with some Armor All.
It looks better now, but I still wish that I would have stuck with the old method.
In the future, I'll save the texture paint for the undercoating.

Started some detail things today, including beginning to work out the marker light lenses, as well as detailing the wheels and finishing the red lines on the tires.

Nice details Steve on your wheels and side marker lights. I used to hate it when they would put the wheel weights on the outside of the rims. lol.

Yeah, but the wheel weights on the outside add some visual interest on a model.
I finally installed the wiring harness on the firewall.
Did a black wash on the Hemi badges too, and I'm investigating using the R/T badges on the grille and rear panel if they fit right.

Got the hubcaps finished as well.
Just need to glue them in place.

nice. I have some spray vinyl top i used. i feel it comes out too thick and the texture is large. I have used that method you described a few times. finding that distance it sure fun. I use that for speckled trunks when I do a brand X build. i never thought of using armorall on the top. doesn't it disappear or evaporate? its funny, if you are really going for a correct look, its surprising how many people think vinyl tops are flat shade. you know how many bottles of armorall i went thru on my one runners top?

ok, more questions. it all in the name of building a better model... how do you do your red lines?

ok, more questions. it all in the name of building a better model... how do you do your red lines? These were pretty easy.
The tires are from Fireball Modelworks and cast with a recess for the red lines.
All that I had to do was flow a couple of coats of white acrylic into the recess, followed by a coat or two of red acrylic, and then I wiped off any excess with a little mineral spirits and a conical swab.
Worked like a dream.
