Okay, so here are the small progress pics. Mostly did some detail painting on the chassis first. Did some engine painting and assembly. Still need to finish the interior and do a lot more touch-up there. The guy that is going to be installing new windows in my house was here the other day, and I think he may have looked at this one because I found the steering wheel and column on the floor after he left. They were separated when they had been one piece before, also, some of the paint was rubbed off. Prior to that event I did a mock-up and found that the interior pushes up the chassis, although when I put a bit of pressure on the nose of the car the nose comes down without much resistance. So I am thinking that the chassis is just a bit warped and when I glue everything together it will be fine.

i built a 69, shhhh, don't tell, you will ruin my reputation... and it sat like that. also the front wheels stuck out more than i liked. you can see the front end up a little and the front tires sticking out behind the stack of real tires i was planning on putting under it. i don't even know where this one is at anymore. may have to look for it. i really like that build. let us know if gluing it down helped.

A bit more progress here on this one... Got the chassis almost finished, a little more progress on the engine but mostly just touch up work, the interior and headliner are all painted and touched up, although it is really hard to see,

I am still bothered by the difference in the body and hood color. I can't decide if I want to strip it and repaint it or just leave it as is and finish it. I even broke one of the hood hinges already which is super easy to do with this kit. I have plenty of extra hoods in my LO23 Super Stock Hemi builds so if I strip the body and use one of the other hoods I could fix the paint all of the paint. Okay, what do you guys think? Finish it or do the best job I can and repaint it?

Finish it or do the best job I can and repaint it? well, its east for me to say "fix it", but there are a lot of things i left alone on a build. although i do try to fix stuff, it may not turn out right even on the second attempt. alright, here is my answer. if you have to buy more paint, dont fix it. i cheap that way.. BUT .. if you put it on your shelf and you know its wrong, if your eyes are drawn to it like a set of 38DD's, then i would fix it. i just finished up a 66 nova, i burned thru the hood twice... TWICE!! in the same spot!! i said the hell with it and now thats all i see.

Eric it’s like what Al said what are your restraints from repainting versus leaving it as is. There’s no question if you repaint it will look better so the question is do you do it now or later but doing it later will require more work. If it was mine I would bite the bullet and repaint now.

Yeah, that was just the nudge I needed! Thanks, guys, for the motivation, into the acid bath (purple pond) it goes. I would not have been happy with it when it was done, because I would have known I could have fixed it. Besides, I haven't fired up the paint booth and compressor in a while. Maybe this will motivate me you get some more bodies painted too. Like the day 2 cars that have been waiting for just such a day.

Well spent part of my morning scrubbing all the residue off of the Dart. I now have slightly tinted clean fresh plastic to work with. Bodies back from the stripper and no rust. I have a solid surface to finish the bodywork I missed before and repaint the car. Let's see if I can get it right this time. I love super clean. it strips the paint all the way off without making the plastic brittle like brake fluid or oven cleaner can. Even the good old ELO would tend to harden the plastic in my experience.

So I got the first few coats of the new paint job on the body. So yeah didn't get around to shooting those coats of paint till a couple of days ago. The good news is the hood and the body match. The bad news is I got a run in the paint on top of the right quarter panel. Some sanding took care of most of that but now more coats of paint are needed and I am out of that paint. Fortunately, I have some more coming from EvilBay and hopefully, I will be able to finish the paint this upcoming week.

Okay, so the repaint took some wind out of my sails. It just didn't quite turn out as I had hoped but I can still correct the paint without stripping it. Then my health took a bad turn and then I moved to a new home, a better home. I am still trying to rebuild my hobby area which is a little tough because I have lost a room again. I am once again in one room for my hobby area, my computing area and, my sleeping area. But this is a much better living situation than where I was.
I plan to continue with this project very soon. I hope that my posting this here will help motivate me to finish getting my workspace cleaned up and ready to use. I am doing much better health-wise and I am itching to do some building.
