I've been using the 101 & 102 Molotow pens (1 & 2 mm) depending on whatever I'm applying it to. That, foil, and decals I'm doing before clear coating; no worries handling them that way.

Well, as long as I am going to be repainting stuff I may as well paint the engine the right color too. The question is do I do it in blue or red, not orange but red. I have learned that many of the cars built at the L.A. plant had their engines painted red. Something I had wondered about for a while because almost every car I owned back then had a red engine and all were from '64 - '70. Well, I should say all of the ones with 6es or 273-318s. All of the 340's - 440's were either blue or orange depending on the year. But this one will be blue I suppose.

I think you mean turquoise, as blue didn't show up on Mopar engines until 1970. The 340 in my '68 Barracuda Formula S was red, but I don't recall where the car was assembled. 340 colors get debated on Mopar forums, enough that I'd only trust the original color on a #s car in 1:1.

Oh, interesting Topside I don't remember ever seeing a 340 in red but I have certainly not seen them all and never trust Ma Mopar to do anything with consistency. Well except build quality machines that are consistently the best around and the highest performers.

Yeah, as consistent as the colors were on their other engines, the '68 & '69 340s vary. It's been discussed a couple times on Moparts.com.

The Mopar engine color chart I have that came from turbinecar.com shows that the 340-LA in 68 was red and for 69 & 70 they were street Hemi orange.

I do however think i should paint the 383 in this car Blue or turquoise as it would have been in '68. Although I may leave it orange now that I have seen the air cleaner decal and it says 440 which in '68 wasn't an option for the GTS.

Oh - I had the idea it was a 340. '68 BBs were turquoise. I think they also got chrome valve covers in an A-body application but I'm not 100% certain. They did get chrome VCs in '69 for sure.

Yeah, at this point I think I may just leave the engine as it is and just try and finish that silly thing. It will only be the second model I have finished in over 20 years so just getting it done will be a real accomplishment.

Your work is looking really good so far! At this point, I am wondering how durable the Moltow becomes if you let it dry long term like for months?

It seems to take a while to cure, but what I started doing is to apply decals, foil & Molotow before spraying the clear. That way everything is locked down.
